At Trans Care BC, we understand that health and wellness for trans, Two-Spirit and non-binary (TTNB) people goes beyond access to gender-affirming hormones or surgery. Over the past year, we’ve released a number of resources to support embodied wellness, such as Kindling our curiosity: a trans sexual health zine and Demystifying sex drive & sexual response.

Collaboration with community members and providers has helped us to determine gaps that remain in existing, freely available resources for TTNB people. This has allowed us to develop two new resources hosted in our Health & wellbeing section.

The new webpage Understanding the pelvic floor teaches about pelvic floor health considerations for all bodies. Through short videos and explanatory text, it introduces the audience to the role this part of the body plays in a person’s overall health. Particular focus is given to pelvic floor concerns commonly experienced by TTNB people.

This tool was developed in close consultation with pelvic floor physiotherapists and medical providers. The page includes guided breathing and stretching exercises for people who bind, tuck, or use gender-affirming shapewear. It’s particularly intended to support the pelvic health of people for whom physical therapy is currently out of reach.

Our second new resource, Honouring changes, is an interactive guidebook for processing and making meaning out of one’s gender journey. It acknowledges the importance of self care and ritual and encourages us to commemorate life changes in personally significant ways.

The workbook contains activities and reflection exercises to be explored on one’s own or with support from others.

Please contact us if you have suggestions or feedback on any of these guides. We welcome your feedback.
