Every Wednesday (4:00p.m. — 5:00p.m.) queer refugees and refugee claimants meet to socialize and play board games. We also offer community activities such as social drop-ins, workshops, and celebrations for anyone who is both an LGBTQIA newcomer and was forcibly displaced by persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual characteristics (SOGIESC). We cover activities such as dancing, discussion on queer arts and spirituality, health relationship workshops, support and discussion on mental health, info sessions on name changes, tax filing, Trans Day of Remembrance, learning about decolonization, Pride, sharing food recipes and food talk, and story/art sharing on empowerment of the community. The activities are organized through our members' inputs, feedback, and needs assessment, and they usually happen on Sundays.
